Jaipur: After irregularities were found in distribution of sanitary napkins under the Udaan scheme, women and child development department secretary Mohan Lal Yadav on Thursday instructed officials to obtain supplies with full transparency as per rules and to report after verification. He also suggested that the officers should contribute in preventing the possibility of irregularities with their alertness.

He said that the officers need not fear if they are not involved in irregularities. Yadav was taking a monthly review meeting of departmental schemes and programs with the district deputy directors of directorate of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS). The secretary said that disciplinary action will be taken against those officers or personnel who don’t take corrective action to improve the system.
O P Bunkar, director ICDS said, “If officers face any technical problem in the field, then suggestions should be given.

Action can then be taken based on these suggestions, and if necessary, changes can be made to the standard operating procedure for supply of Udaan scheme.” In the meeting, Bindu Karunakar, commissioner of directorate of women empowerment discussed the process of sanitary napkin supply under Udaan Scheme and directed officials to take necessary precautions. She said that after discussions within the department, Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation Limited (RMSCL) will be directed to mention the batch number and date in the supply of sanitary napkins.

In May, the women and child development department conducted a surprise inspection of 6,461 anganwadi centres in the state after reports of irregularities in distribution of sanitary napkins. Officials also gave instructions to ensure the supply of supplementary food given to children in anganwadi centres with complete transparency. The secretary instructed officials to make progress in key performance indicator (KPI), use social media for maximum publicity of the department’s schemes and create a WhatsApp group of beneficiaries. Districts Bikaner, Sirohi and Jhunjhunu were honoured with a certificate for their better performance in KPI in the month of May 2024 at the meeting.

A three-day training will also be provided to batches of 100 anganwadi workers each in the state under ‘Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi’ campaign. The secretary directed officials to complete the training of State Level Master Trainers (SLMT) as soon as possible.
Along with this, the deputy directors of all the districts were instructed to complete the training program in the districts without any hindrance and with high quality. For this, Dholpur district has been selected as the first aspirational district.
